I just completed my Doctorate of Christian Counseling through Christian Leadership University. I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing this experience was for me in terms of healing, personal growth, and growing as close to God as I have ever been.

I am currently a staff psychiatric social worker at an inpatient unit for adolescents. I have a small private practice as well as a teen group at my local church. I have received a Bachelor of Science in Business and double majored in Psychology, as well as achieving Master’s level training in Counseling.

I have worked in two psychiatric units as well as a teen homeless shelter, and provided home-based family counseling in the inner city. I have supervised numerous clinicians and developed programming for these positions. In my current position at the hospital, I work all day alongside the most reputable psychiatrist in our region.

Knowing what I learned in my secular training is definitely useful. However the knowledge and skills taught through the counseling courses at Christian Leadership University are what have been EFFECTIVE. I see more positive longstanding results in the private practice patients utilizing the information taught and cultivated by Communion With God, Counseled By God, Prayers That Heal the Heart, and Christian Dream Interpretation than any of the counseling theories that you are forced to study in Master’s Level Counseling Curriculum. Secular counseling techniques mainly ‘band aid’ people's struggles and symptoms. However, inner healing heals the wounds in a person's heart.

I can say that the training received in the Counseling Curriculum at CLU has been absolutely priceless for the many counselees I have worked with. Instead of getting caught in endless talks about ‘the problem’ you learn to minister to people on a heart-to-heart level and not a head-to-head level. At my secular position, the administration not only respected my accomplishment, but they allowed me to start a Christian faith-based support group for the adolescent patients right in the hospital.

As for financially, in my private practice, I have been able to increase my income dramatically. I get many word-of-mouth referrals, pastor referrals and advertisings referrals for clients who are in need of inner healing type ministry. Without question, the knowledge, skills, and abilities that I acquired through the curriculum at CLU have made my private practice counseling as successful as it is. The difference is changed lives. People I minister to really get touched and changed, they continue to return for more sessions, and they refer people themselves. This has resulted in increased income for me and my family. God has multiplied my counseling ministry with the tools learned at CLU.

I heartily recommend Prayers That Heal the Heart. It is the most biblical book I have read on counseling and spiritual warfare, in terms of emotional healing. While there are other good books out there that God has used, red flags have always gone up in my mind by their use of methods borrowed by modern psychology. This book isn't like that, and it is thoroughly practical with its exercises and worksheets. It can definitely be used by the Lord to change your life and break the enemy's power in your life.
