This major offers a tri-fold focus of classes in arts,
theology, philosophy and theory. The student is also encouraged to
receive practicum credit for workshops, tours, and missions. The staff
will encourage the ministry aspects of the arts; training the student
with excellence founded on character and Scripture. Art is viewed as
expression of our relationship with God, used to express life in God,
with God, for God. It is not art for art’s sake...but rather art for
Christ’s sake. From this viewpoint, the student will study Scripture,
culture, and the techniques of art to an equal and high level of excellence.
Subjects covered include: mime, drama, dance, theatre arts, painting, sign, Greek theatre, theatre in the Middle Ages, art and culture, creative worship dance, illustrated sermon, prophetic gestures and more.
New: Virtue Dance Academy
The courses listed below may be taken as a certificate or applied as a major concentration toward an Associate's, Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree. Additional work is required when an undergraduate-level course is taken on the graduate level. Course substitutions and combining major concentrations are possible when working toward a degree. Discuss these options with the Dean. The key is to follow God's passion within your heart. Students in the Master's and Doctoral programs earn approximately 30 credits for each degree from specific courses, and the remaining 10 credits by doing practical ministry work and earning "practica" credits.
The following courses may be purchased individually or as a total package. If purchased as a pre-paid package, the cost of tuition is reduced by 20%. Two to five courses are sent at a time, as the student requests. Prices are subject to change without notice. Payment may be made by credit card.
To receive a certificate a student must complete a minimum of 10 of the courses below. One of them must be Communion With God.
REN103 Communion With God (Course Syllabus)3 credits $342.84 REN503 Communion With God (Graduate Level) (Course Syllabus) 4 credits $445.78 A thoroughly practical course on hearing God's voice. Biblical techniques of vision and journaling will be combined to help one discern and clarify the spontaneous thoughts that come from God. (Key verses: Habakkuk 2:1-4) The goal is that one commune (converse) with God through the fellowship of the Holy Spirit and that this communion flow both ways.
REN204 Naturally Supernatural (Course Syllabus)3 credits $287.88
REN206 Increasing the Anointing (Course Syllabus)3 credits $335.84
ART220 Creative Writing I (Course Syllabus)3 credits $275.95 The Creator God has deposited His creative Spirit within each of His children, and lit a fire within each one to express that creativity through his own unique personality and gifting. Many people have an urge within them to write, but because of insecurity, the criticism of early teachers, lack of time or training, or a host of other reasons, they have not released that creative urge in a satisfying way. This course is designed to encourage, instruct and liberate those whom the Lord has called to minister through the written word. Whatever you are impelled to write, the Holy Spirit wants to be your Source and your Inspiration.
ART221 Creative Writing II (Course Syllabus)3 credits $288.95 This course is designed with a twofold purpose: First, it will encourage, instruct and liberate those whom the Lord has called to minister to His body and His world through the written word. Whether you are impelled to write fiction or nonfiction, poems or college textbooks, the Holy Spirit wants to be your Source and your Inspiration. In addition, you will explore the relationship between your Christian faith and the arts in general. You will meditate on what the Scriptures say about the arts, and the place of beauty and pleasure in the life of the believer.
ART341 Creative Writing III (Course Syllabus)2 credits $191.99 You will continue your exploration of the relationship between faith and art, as well as exploring your own personal creativity. You will increase your ability to experience Christ’s inspiration and put aside any inhibitions, fears or sin patterns that are blocking the flow of your divine imagination.
ART308 Mime Through the Church Ages (Course Syllabus)2 credits $179.00 This class of MIMEistry International offers a unique view of history. It's the view of a mime and minister...looking at art, as the arts struggle throughout the Church ages: from the use of the arts by the prophets of the Old Testament, to the countryside of Greece and the Courts of Renaissance Europe. It looks into the rise and fall of the arts in empires and kingdoms, and traces the philosophers like Plato, and ministers like St. Augustine. Finally, it answers questions that have echoed throughout time, questions that try to embrace the arts as ministry...or entertainment.
ART330 Mastery of Mimodrame I (Course Syllabus)3 credits $275.00 This course covers all the basics of the art form of mime. The course provides a great starting point for anyone wishing to understand the use of the human body in communication and mime. After completion, the student will understand the basics of body positioning, character building, object identification, coloration, and illusions (walls, walks, etc.). This is a required course in the MIMEistry Apprenticeship program. (NOTE: Access to a video camera is required.)
ART334 Prophetic Gestures (Course Syllabus)3 credits $256.00 This study takes you through all the gestures of the Old and New Testaments. It examines the meaning behind the movement...movements that in the past have seemed so strange are brought to light, revealing a wealth of truth and wisdom. Dance, mime, drama, and the fine arts are also studied in this course. An excellent foundation for any ministering artist. A required course for all MIMEistry Apprentices.
ART335 Silent Prophet (Course Syllabus)2 credits $174.00 This class of MIMEistry International offers a biblical foundation for using man's physical body to glorify God. You will see the visual side of communication - in worship, prayer, prophecy and teaching. You will discover how God communicated His thoughts through dramatic expressions like mime, acting, drama, dance, and Fine Arts. You will also see that the worship experience is not only an audible experience, but involves many expressions and postures of the body. Most importantly, you will see how we are to love God and show forth the praises of our God.
Those interested in additional training in this concentration should contact Todd Farley's office at MIMEistry International (626-398-2300). (You will enroll directly with them and pay their established fees. Upon completion, your transcript will be accepted by Christian Leadership University.) |
