God Determines My Destiny

by Apr 22, 2019

Deliverance is a topic that we do not hear every day on the radio, the newspaper or on TV. This may sound spooky to some people, but this is necessary as Christians especially if the Holy Spirit is showing us areas in our lives or in our family line that needs prayer or intercession. What is the meaning of Deliverance? It’s the action of being rescued or set free (online dictionary). To me deliverance is to be liberated, to be free both physically and spiritually, this is a beautiful thing. The good news for us as Christians is that Jesus gave us the key and the power to this freedom through His death and our salvation in Him. What I have found out as a counselor and a coach is that sometimes the freedom that Jesus gave us on the cross is not completely spread out in every area of a believer’s life. It is not that Jesus did not finish the work on the cross; it’s because we may still have some “shadows” tagging along with us before we became born-again. Those shadows or garbage need to be cut off and uprooted using the power of the cross and the blood of Jesus. Your story may be different from mine or other believers I have come across. For you, it could be that the moment you gave your life to Christ everything in your life became rosy and every obstacle was utterly eradicated. Then, that is superb!
As a Christian, the area of interest to me is the spiritual aspect because the reality of our journey in life is that; it is the spiritual realm (things we cannot see with our physical eyes) that controls the physical world that we can see with our physical eyes. To make it simple, if there is a hole in one’s pocket in the spirit realm, it will be difficult to make ends meet in the physical, it doesn’t matter if we earn a lot of money in the physical world. The spirit world controls what happens in the physical world, that is the reality. That hole in the pocket in the spirit realm needs to be fixed before things can change in the physical realm.

If our spirit has been tampered with or opened to vandalism(demonic interference) through our bloodline or our actions, which could be in the area of occultism, Freemasonry, witchcraft, sorcery, divination, blood covenants, satanism, idolatry, paganism, rape, incest, polygamy, palm reading, ouija board, reading or worshipping the stars/constellations, tea-cup reading, and so on. If this is the case, as Christians, we have work to do; I call this, house cleaning. Giving our lives to Christ is just the beginning of our journey to freedom, possessing the freedom and living in it to fulfill our destiny not only for ourselves but also for our children and lineage is the next step. It is all about destiny, our scroll/our book and divine inheritance! Our destiny is what God wrote about us before the beginning of the world in our book (Psalm 139:13-16, Jer. 1:5). Everybody God created has a book, or you can call it our scroll. God is building us as a house, and we are His house (Heb. 3:6). If our spirit’s windows, gates or doors are broken, or the key to our door, parts of our destiny has been handed over to another person in the spirit realm through covenants, or soul-ties, then some areas of our lives may not be fully liberated. Another area that our spiritual gates, windows or doors may be broken is through curses or the damage done to the soul (our emotions, mind, will). That can be in the form of trauma, hurt, or pain inflicted on us when we were young or at some point in our lives as teenagers or adults. This infliction or trauma can be in the form of sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse, mental abuse, rejection, abortion, divorce, lack of love from parents, bullying, anger, hatred, bitterroot of judgment, gossip and so on. These different traumas can also open us up to familiar spirits. Sometimes they can make you think you are the one talking to yourself, but they are the ones repeating negative things that others may have said about you. They can tell you that you cannot do this or that, especially achieving something that God has written down in your scroll/ destiny. They place their seat in the subconscious; the gateway to our soul. Because we are used to or accustomed to those words, even after we give our lives to Christ, we may still think that we are the ones speaking doubt, unbelief or words of discouragement to ourselves in our mind, though we are now a new creation in Christ Jesus. To overcome their constant harassment, we must put on the whole armor of God(Eph. 6:11). We must also be renewing the mind daily by using the weapon of our warfare which is the word of God; taking captive every thought to the obedience of Christ and speaking only what the word of God says about us. (Romans 12:2, 2 Cor.10:5)

The repercussions of the actions and decisions made either by our ancestors, parents, or authority before we were born can still be playing a role in our lives. The enemy likes to cover up his actions, that is why need to listen to the Holy Spirit anytime we feel or sense in our heart that something is not right, because it may not be right.

The next step should be to take it to God in prayer. Nobody is perfect, but God is merciful and gracious to us, He wants us to be free so that He can have complete access to every area of our lives. If the enemy has a legal right in any area of our lives through our bloodline or wrong steps and actions we have taken in our lives; then we need to take the legal right out his hands by stepping into the throne room of God to repent and apply the power of the blood of Jesus to our sins, transgressions, and iniquities.
This step is biblical, an excellent example from the bible is in the book of 2 Samuel 21, David as King over Israel prayed to God regarding the famine in the land, which had been going on for three years, he understood how the spirit realm operates. The answer God gave him was that his predecessor, King Saul broke the promise that Joshua made to the Gibeonites (Joshua 9). This wrong decision by Saul opened the door and window for a curse to come upon the land: the famine, which manifested during David’s reign as King. You can say Hmmm, Simi that is the Old Testament, and we are now living in the New Testament. Well, let me give you another example in the New Testament; the disciples asked Jesus in John 9:2 “Teacher, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he would be born blind?” The disciples were aware of how the spirit realm operates as well, and they know that decisions made by parents, or ancestors can affect the bloodline. However, God has created the medication and remedy to fix that, and that is the name and the blood of Jesus. We activate the power in the name of Jesus and His blood through our repentance, though we may not have committed the crime. We become the David, for the sake of our bloodline and stand up to cut off the head of the Goliath. We then, sever soul-ties, we break all demonic blood covenants, vows, pacts, handwritten documents (Col. 2:13-15). We break the power of the curse, demolishing the demonic altars (Deut 7:5) and finally, we close every door, and windows in our lives, and take back the legal grounds from the enemy through our declaration of God’s promises in His word for us.
