Dr. Mark Virkler

Dr. Mark Virkler


Dr. Mark Virkler serves the Lord as a leader in several areas including education, Christian spirituality, natural approaches to health care, and business. Mark has written over 50 books and developed three networks of church-centered Bible schools, involving more than 150 affiliate campuses. He has traveled worldwide since 1984 teaching Christian spirituality through his Communion With God seminar. Mark has founded and pastored a church, as well as worked in a variety of other pastoral roles from 1968 to the present. Mark is President of Communion With God Ministries, and he demonstrates entrepreneurial leadership through his various businesses, whose profits go to help fund worthy causes. Mark and his wife Patti also homeschooled their children.

As president of Christian Leadership University, Mark seeks to disciple others into leadership roles.

Vice President of Marketing and Communications

Josh prefers being behind the scenes and has a hard time writing about himself. He keeps the website and all the computers running (which is talented, since he lives 1200 miles from the office!). He received a Master of Christian Entrepreneurship from CLU.

He is the father of three wonderful children, who he and his talented dance photographer wife homeschool.

Patti oversees the academic committee which evaluates all course syllabi for strength, content and standardized format, ensuring quality throughout Christian Leadership University’s entire curriculum. Patti graduated from Roberts Wesleyan College, and received her Master and Doctorate of Ministry from Vision International University.

Charity Kayembe

Vice President of Academic Affairs

Dr. Charity Kayembe completed her Bachelor’s degree in Missions & Evangelism and interned with The Honor Academy. Upon receiving her ordination for ministry through CWG Leaders Network, she went on to earn her Master of Divinity and Doctor of Biblical Studies through Christian Leadership University.

She is passionate about bringing heaven to earth through restoring the supernatural to believers’ everyday lives and has co-authored two books: Hearing God Through Your Dreams – Understanding the Language God Speaks at Night and EFT for Christians – Tapping into God’s Peace and Joy. She writes about doing life together with God on her blog (GloryWaves.org), sharing the unfolding journey and adventure that is walking by the Spirit.

Charity’s international outreach has taken her to all corners of the globe, traveling to over 50 nations on six continents. She and her husband live in upstate New York.

Cheryl Rinn

Cheryl has been with CLU since 1996 as Administrative Assistant. She oversees the flow of inquiries which come in to CLU and works with students by phone and through email. She also works with the inmate program CLU has for those wishing to learn and grow through CLU courses.

Cheryl and her husband have been involved in full time ministry for many years. They have 3 grown children and 3 grandchildren that they enjoy much of their spare time with.

Karen Tanner

Karen Tanner

Karen has been with us now for 10 years and is usually the first voice you hear when you call in at CLU.  She can answer all kinds of general questions for student inquiries, book product orders, and transfer you to Cheryl, Charity, or Joanne if needed.

Karen has been involved in all aspects of Christian ministry in the last 45 years; youth leader, Kairos prison ministry, Christian educator, retreat and camp director. With her husband of 42 years, Glenn, they have raised 4 children and love being grandparents to 5 (maybe 6, soon).
Don Swartzlander

Don Swartzlander

Don oversees CWG and CLU shipping and receiving, building maintenance and security. He has been with CWG and CLU for over seven years and was formerly the Executive Director of Buffalo Teen Challenge for 22 years.

Don has earned his Bachelors Degree in Christian Counseling and a Masters in Divinity.
