One of our doctoral students, David Grier, has been generous enough to open his heart and share with us all how the Lord got ahold of him and brought spiritual and emotional restoration in one of the most unlikely ways imaginable!

I hope my story blesses you and encourages you to either enroll in CLU or stay enrolled. My story begins in September 2012.  I was going through a terrible divorce, not of my choosing, and I was suffering from depression and self esteem issues.  I prayed and prayed for reconciliation but my prayers went unanswered. Beginning in March 2014, six months later, I continued asking the Lord for reconciliation with my wife but I added another prayer request. I prayed to God to heal me of my depression and my lack of self esteem and to restore my zeal for life.

One morning as I sat in my prayer room waiting on the Lord, God spoke to me with two words, “Doctorate Theology”. I said, “What Lord? Can you repeat that?” I never heard Him repeat those words again. But I clearly heard “Doctorate Theology”.

Now, I have a MBA and I teach Economics and Management at a local university. So my expertise is business, not theology. All kinds of things went through my mind as to why God wanted me to earn a Doctorate in Theology. Did he want me to preach? Did he want me to pastor at a church somewhere? I had no idea.

But what I do know about God is that He wants us to be obedient to Him. So I began my research to find a university that offered a Doctorate in Theology. My criterion was the following:

  • Online courses
  • Accredited
  • No semesters. As I completed a course, I could immediately enroll in another course.
  • Affordability
  • Doctrine in congruent with my beliefs

It only took me a couple of days to find Christian Life University and after conducting my due diligence, it met all of my criteria so I enrolled in April.

When I began my classes, I became engulfed in the reading and the journaling. It was so much fun because I could feel the presence of the Lord while I was doing my assignments. As I continued my studies, I noticed I began to get stronger in the Lord. By the time I had completed the two courses, I was really strong in the Lord and I was walking with Him even more. Then it dawned on me.

I had prayed to God to heal me of my depression and lack of self esteem. And when I completed the two courses, I had no depression and my self esteem was back. So when God spoke to me “Doctorate Theology” he was answering my prayer because He knew want my criteria would be and that I would find CLU.

I was obedient to his assignment and God answered my prayer. Now I have no idea what the Lord has in store for my once I complete my Doctorate, but I will be ready when He calls me.

I urge everyone who really wants to learn how God operates in His Kingdom and wants to become closer to the Him and the Holy Spirit, to enroll in this university whether it’s undergraduate school or graduate school.

If anyone wants to speak with me about the university, feel free to e mail me at dbg03@cox.net and I will be glad to answer all your questions.

God Bless,

David Grier
